ABOUT UMAUMA

My love affair with clay began in 1993. I was fortunate to
always learn from and work alongside the best.

I started as an assistant to the renowned potter Birte Kittilsen for
two years at her corner workshop at Briskeby, Oslo.

Since then, ceramics has become an integral part of my life, and
I've practised it wherever I've lived and worked.

Upon returning to Oslo, I had the good fortune of working for several years     with the incredible ceramist and entrepreneur Sissel Brevik at her
various workshops across the city, known as Liv i Leire.

It was during this time that UmaUma was born.
While throwing pots and working as an assistant and course instructor, I       began carving and modelling jewelry from stoneware and porcelain
and selling them at markets and events.

"UMAUMA" means "one by one" in Portuguese, and it defines how I like to approach everything I create - with patience and a deep understanding of the simple forms, to give them purpose as sustainable and wearable objects,  using all the incredible techniques I've learned and developed over the years to decorate and make them special.

When I moved back to Barcelona in 2019, I was once again
fortunate enough to work with the incredible ceramist and
entrepreneur Paula Loew at El Torn Ceramic Hub.

It was there that the idea of opening an online store was born, but unfortunately, the pandemic hit and halted everyone's lives and plans.

Last summer, I had the opportunity to work for a month at the
fantastic Miraka Ceramics and finished up all the pieces for my collections,
allowing me to finally launch my online store.

And now, here it is!

Welcome to my store!

I'm thrilled to have you here.

This shop is the perfect place for those seeking unique, sustainable
and handmade accessories that make a statement.

I believe that everyone deserves to feel stylish, confident, and
my simple creations are the perfect way to achieve that - whether you're looking for a statement necklace or a cute earring to wear every day.

My creations have a Bohemian flare and are inspired by my surroundings and the celebratory nature of expressing uniqueness through the things you wear!
